International Youth Day celebrated, Health Minister launches IEC campaign

In connection with the celebration of International Youth Day, Health & Family Welfare and IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh launched a 2-month long Intensified Information, Education and Communication (TEC) campaign on Monday.
The Minister also flagged off a cycle rally from Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai, Lairembi Lampak in the presence of Haobam Rosita Devi, Project Director, Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) .
Around 150 cyclists of Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association (MAMBA), Manipur Fencing Association and Mitsna participated in the rally.
The cyclists were received at NG College, Lamphelpat by the Project Director, MACS.
At the event, Dr Sapam Ranjan said that the IEC campaign was launched with the aim to raise awareness about control and prevention of HIV/AIDS and STDs among the people.
During the 2-month long campaign, various activities such as exhibitions, sensitization workshops, village level awareness camps, school level awareness camps, flash mobs and interpersonal communication sessions will be conducted to spread HIV/AIDS awareness.
Later, Dr Sapam Ranjan also flagged off a Motorcycle Rally as a part of the Har Ghar Thanga at Thoubal.
Moreover, MACS, Red Ribbon Club and NSS Units of NG College, Lamphelpat, also observed International Youth Day at the Jubilee Hall of the college today.
It was attended by Naorem Sumorjit Singh, Joint Director, Finance, MACS; Ashok Roy Choudhury, Principal, NG College and Dr Beema H, Deputy Director, MACS as presidium members.
As part of the observance, a State Level Extempore Speech Competition for college students was also organised and prizes were distributed to the winners.
A total of 53 students from different colleges took part in the competition.
