Wide Angle organises 'Know Your Village' exposure tour for 230 children

Wide Angle, a social development organisation, with support from Child Rights and You (CRY), organised the 'Know Your Village' Exposure Tour Programme on Sunday to promote heritage and environmental learning among children.
The tour was flagged off by Montu Ahanthem, secretary, Wide Angle.
A total of 230 children from 9 villages - Hainabok, Ngairangbam Makha, Ngairangbam Awang, Ngairangbam Maning, Tharoijam, Salam, Yurembam Awang, Yurembam Mayai Leikai and Maklang-participated in the programme.
As part of the exposure tour, the children visited Kangla Fort, Manipur Museum and Manipur Zoological Garden.
The initiative aimed to provide experiential learning and give children first-hand knowledge of Manipur's history, cultural legacy, biodiversity and natural environment.
During the visit, the children explored historical sites, observed various wildlife species, and took part in interactive activities designed to encourage curiosity, teamwork, leadership and appreciation for cultural and natural heritage.
The programme also sought to strengthen community pride and highlight the need to preserve the state's historical and ecological resources.
Organisers said the programme is part of Wide Angle's continued efforts to create meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom and help children build a stronger connection with their surroundings through education and exploration.
Wide Angle expressed gratitude to Ningthoujam Sonia, official guide from the Manipur Archaeology Department, for her valuable historical inputs during the tour.
