Imphal, June 10 2026:
All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) has served a three-day ultimatum to authorities to repair the severely damaged drain on the lane from Irabot Road, formerly Hao Keithel, towards Rupmahal Tank, warning of a road blockade if action is not taken.
In a release, AMNM said that the drain in the heart of Imphal city remains clogged, with wastewater and garbage from the market overflowing onto the road.
Pedestrians and vehicles face accident risks, while shopkeepers complain of foul smell, flies, and mosquito-bome diseases from the stagnant sewage.
AMNM criticised the State of civic amenities, questioning the "Smart City" project and past BJP Government promises of turning Manipur into "Singapore" .
They alleged the area has instead become a dumping ground.
Nupi Marup has submitted a written appeal to the authorities concerned demanding immediate cleanup and repair within three days, failing which they will block the road.
Residents have urged swift intervention to prevent health hazards and traffic disruption.
