Imphal, June 10 2024: The 28th death anniversary of Padmashree GC Tongbra was observed at Centenary Hall, Manipur University today.

The commemorative event jointly organised by The Society Theatre Manipur and Manipuri Department, Manipur University was graced by Manipur University, Vice Chancellor, Prof Naorem Lokendra Singh; Manipuri Department, Head, Prof Loitongbam Birjita Devi; School of Humanities, Dean, Prof Soibam Imoba Singh and The Society Theatre Manipur, director, Kangabam Tomba Singh as presidium members.

At the event, the dignitaries recalled the contribution of Padmashree GC Tongbra to Manipuri literature.

They shared that GC Tongbra's works portrayed significant societal issues with a touch of humour and can be termed as mirrors of the society.

As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to a photograph of GC Tongbra, followed by presentation of a play written by him, namely 'Ngabongkhao' .
