A Primary Health Sub Centre under the Community Health Sub Centre of Kangpokpi has been inaugurated today by the Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat at Henbung village under Senapati district.
With the opening of the PHSC it is highly expected that health care requirements of Henbung and nearby villages, especially welfare of the mother and child could be provided under the National Rural Health Mission.
In his speech as the chief guest, Parijat stated that even though the PHSC could not provide medical facilities as available at hospital, posting of two nurses, one ANM and male health worker at the Centre would atleast ensure prevention of diseases through constant awareness programme and care.
He also explained that PHSC staff, apart from their task at the Centre should reach out to the villages for coverage of periodical immunisation programme.
Parijat further informed that an annual amount of Rs 20,000 is being provided to every PHSCs as discretionary fund for emergency purposes including purchase of medicines while a yearly amount of Rs 10,000 is allotted to Village Sanitation Committees to maintain hygiene through sanitation campaigns at the village level.
The Minister also confided that plans are afoot to establish a nursing school each of 40 seat capacity in close proximity of district hospitals in the hill areas, where there is shortage of nurses.
Stating that the Central Government has approved allocation of Rs 10 crore to set up nursing schools in the hill districts, the Health minister said efforts are on to begin construction works within this fiscal.
In his address as the guest of honour, Director (Health Services) Dr S Ibomcha informed that even though there is no specific provision for posting of doctor/s at PHSCs, Govt of Manipur is committed to ensuring presence of atleast one doctor at every PHSC on rotational basis.
The State Government commitment could be translated into action once the Manipur Public Service Commission approves recommendation for appointment of 401 doctors along with 39 dentists, he assured.
addressing the gathering as the functional president, Saitu AC MLA Haokholet Kipgen conveyed gratitude to the Health Minister for according top priority to proposal for setting up a health care facility at Henbung area.
As a part of the PHSC inauguration, a medical camp was organised under the aegis of Directorate of Health Services, Govt of Manipur where medicines to the needy were also distributed free of cost.
