Legal awareness programme on Child Marriage held at Langathel

Thoubal, February 07 2026: A one-day legal awareness programme on Child Marriage Free India was held today at Sacred Shine English School, Langathel, in Thoubal district.

The awareness programme was organised by the Thoungambi Village Level Federation, Langathel Mayai Lekai, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA).

Former chairperson of Langathel Gram Panchayat, Sagolshem Tomba Singh, attended the programme as the chief guest; while principal of Sacred Shine English School, Moirangthem Iboyaima Singh, presided over the function.

DLSA Thoubal panel lawyers Advocate Mayanglambam Swami Singh and Advocate Lembisana Meidingu attended as guests of honour and also served as resource persons.

During the programme, advocate Lembisana Meidingu delivered a detailed presentation on the JJ Act, 2025, while advocate Mayanglambam Swami spoke on the "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006", highlighting it legal implications and preventive measures.
