Ukhrul, October 06 2026: Rabi vegetable seeds and other inputs were distributed to farmers of Ukhrul district during a distribution programme held today at the DRDA training hall, Mini Secretariat office complex, Hamleikhong.

The District Office, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Ukhrul organised the distribution programme under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) of 2026-27, 1st Installment.

Before distributing the seeds, W Rangsan Koireng, District Officer, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Ukhrul enlightened the farmers that rabi crops ensure food security and economic stability.

These winter crops farming will provide fresh green vegetables in every household in the lean dry season, he added.

While Horeisung PD, MSRLM Ukhrul educated the farmers on the various State Government intervention, support and financial assistance provided through formation of Self Help Group (SHG) to the rural women.

The other officials concerned also educated the farmers on scientific cultivation of the rabi seeds for higher yield particularly the garden pea, cabbage, onion etc.

Altogether 80 local farmers beneficiaries enrolled in the MIDH Suraksha portal received winter seeds.
