Plastic bag-making training programme launched at Heirok to boost women's livelihood

An entrepreneurship development programme on plastic bag making was launched today at Heirok Part III Tourangbam Leikai Community Hall, marking the second such initiative aimed at empowering local women through skill development The training programme is being jointly organised by Ningol Club, Apunbagi Thouna Village Level Federation (VLF), and Palem Panthou VLF with the objective of enhancing incomegenerating opportunities for women in the area.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Apunbagi Thouna VLF cadre Elangbam Sangita stated that the initiative seeks to equip women with practical skills to improve employability, achieve financial independence, and promote self-sustainability.
She noted that a similar programme conducted earlier had successfully trained around 40 women, helping them strengthen their livelihoods.
Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, she added that the continued training is especially aimed at members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and other women who lack employment opportunities, enabling them to supplement their income and manage SHG activities more effectively.
The inaugural session was attended by Apunbagi Thouna VLF president Thokchom Premabati; Palem Panthou VLF cadre Moirangthem Robina; and Apunbagi Thouna VLF cadre Elangbam Sangita, among others, as presidium members.
