PUYA, FNCC denounce attempts to "malign" them

Imphal, August 05 2026: The People's United Youth Alliance (PUYA) and the Foothills Naga Coordinating Committee (FNCC) have alleged that certain elements are attempting to portray them in a negative light for exposing irregularities in public healthcare facilities across the State.

Addressing the media at Chingmeirong today, PUYA general secretary Longjam Abothe said the organisation has been actively involved in the healthcare sector since 2019 .

He said PUYA worked closely with the Indian Red Cross Society and the Health Department during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abothe said that PUYA, in collaboration with the FNCC, has organised several health camps in remote areas of Manipur and inspected more than 30 healthcare facilities across the State.

Referring to a recent inspection of Moirangpurel Community Health Centre (CHC), he alleged that the facility is effectively being run by an MLA .

He further alleged that 13 staff members, including a doctor, had been recruited to work at the CHC through an individual associated with the MLA and their salaries were being paid from deductions made from the salaries of Government doctors and nurses.

The claim that Moirangpurel CHC was charging higher OPD ticket fees and ultrasound charges to manage the facility is illogical, he said, adding that any shortage or deficiency should be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned.

FNCC convenor Akhiu Ngaomei said that substitute doctors and staff were found working at several public healthcare facilities during recent inspections conducted by the organisation and PUYA .

He urged the Government, particularly the Health Commissioner and the Director, to take responsibility if any doctors or staff of public health care facilities who were found to be drawing Government salaries by placing substitutes in their positions are transferred.
