Herbert School, Changangei, hosted a talk on "Ecosystem Restoration for a Sustainable Environment" by Dr Th Binoy Singh, Professor, Zoology Department, MU.
He outlined restoration ecology, covering pre- and post-industrialisation phases, identifying causes of degradation, species reintroduction, and monitoring.
Academic Coordinator Kh Hemanta stressed shared responsibility.
The Eco Club followed with a campus plantation drive.
Oriental College (Autonomous) organised a campus clean-up and plantation through its Eco-Club, NSS Units I & II, and OCSU .
Staff and students cleaned premises and planted saplings.
The Principal urged translating awareness into action.
The College of Agriculture, CAU, Iroisemba, led by Dean Prof K Nandini Devi, observed the day at Maklang village, promoting chemical-free farming under 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' alongside a plantation drive.
Wangoi Higher Secondary School conducted a mass plantation drive with the Central Forest Division and ZEO Wangoi, Imphal West, organised by its ECO Club and NSS Units I & II .
Chief Conservator of Forest Longjam Joykumar Singh, Principal Puyam Baroda Devi, and RTED RO Sanasam Shamungou Singh attended as presidium members.
Saplings were planted on the school premises.
