Imphal, June 05 2025: The 133rd birth anniversary of Sorokhaibam Lalit Singh (Natya Ratna) was observed today at Manipur Dramatic Union Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane at 2 pm .

Organised by Sorokhaibam Lalit Memorial Trust, the event was graced by RK Nimai, retd IAS Sorokhaibam Brajamani, chairman, Sorokhaibam Lalit Memorial Trust and Soraisam Keshoram, president, MDU as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.

The event began with a showcase of cultural performance followed by an offering of floral tribute to the portrait of the theatre stalwart.

As a part of the ceremony, a Meitei Mayek version of Sorokhaibam Lalit Singh's book "Areppa Marup" was released.

The program continued with the felicitation of Soibam Indrakumar, recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award for Translation 2024; Sorokhaibam Rudranarayan, President's Medal for Distinguished Service (2025) and Sorokhaibam Gautam, IPS .

Speakers at the event paid tribute to S Lalit Singh's legacy and recalled his huge influence on Manipuri drama and theatre.
