Imphal, June 04 2026: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has appealed to the State Government to expedite recruitment to fill large-scale vacancies in three tribal institutions, saying the manpower shortage is hampering developmentworks.

According to TYCM, the Directorate of Tribal Affairs & Hills has only 38 of 138 sanctioned posts filled, leaving 100 vacant.

The Tribal Research Institute has 13 of 33 posts filled, with 20 vacant, while the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Ltd has 92 of 108 posts filled and 68 vacant.

The council said other departments are conducting recruitment despite the State's volatile situation, but tribal departments remain neglected.

contradicting the Government's slogan of "equal development for valley and hills" .

TYCM noted it has been pressing the demand since before President's Rule and submitted reminders to the Chief Minister, with the issue discussed with the minister's nominee on March 30, 2026.It urged immediate recruitment to ensure welfare and upliftment of tribal communities.
