AR apprehends OGW

Imphal, January 04 2025: Acting on specific intelligence input, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Imphal East Police successfully apprehended an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of the Pambei led United National Liberation Front.

The operation, which took place in Hatta Golapati of Imphal East district, resulted in the recovery of a four-wheeler that had been forcefully snatched from its owner.

According to a release issued by HQ IGAR(South), the intelligence received by Assam Rifles indicated the presence of armed OGWs of the UNLF(P) in the area, with reports linking the individual to extortion, vehicle hijacking, and intimidation activities within Imphal town.

A targeted search operation was immediately launched by the combined team of Assam Rifles and Imphal East Police.

The operation was successful, and the suspect was apprehended from the Khomidok area of Keirang, Imphal East district.

Following his arrest, the OGW was taken into custody by Imphal East Police for further questioning and investigation.

During the operation, the team also recovered the stolen four-wheeler.

The apprehension of the OGW highlighted the commitment of Assam Rifles and the police to clamp down on unlawful activities and ensure security for the local population.
