Thoubal, May 03 2025: The 119th birth anniversary of pioneer poet and popular literary figure Ashangbam Minaketan was observed today at Tarou Meitei Leikai.

As per a press release, the event was organised by Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura and witnessed the attendance of AC Netrajit, Member, Manipuri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi; Seleibam Khelamohan, vice president, Manipur Sahitya Parishad; RK Arunjit Singh, advisor, Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum and renowned writer Mayengbam Abhiram Singh.

The gathering paid a floral tribute on the photo of the noted poet.

Khoisnam Mangal, secretary of the Forum delivered the keynote address followed by Khoisnam Birla, Member, Manipuri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi who presented a paper about the pioneer literary figure and his contributions and works.

Chief guest AC Netrajit lauded Ashangbam Minaketan Singh as a gem of Manipuri community and a pioneer of modem Manipuri literature.

Later, Ashangbam Minaketan's poems were presented before the gathering.
