Manipur best among NE states in organ donation

The 15th Indian Organ Donation Day was observed under the aegis of the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi on Saturday.
Manipur was awarded as the best among North Eastern states in organ donation and transplant at the event, organised by the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) and attended by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda.
Other awards included Best ROTTO Region to the North Region, Best State to Tamil Nadu, and Best Union Territory to Puducherry, while Rajasthan, Karnataka and Gujarat were honoured for promoting organ donation.
Odisha, Punjab and Rajasthan were also declared the Best Emerging States in organ donation.
The programme was held as part of the year-long national campaign 'Angdaan Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyan', which seeks to promote organ and tissue donation across the country.
The campaign emphasises the need for greater public participation, dispelling myths and misconceptions, and motivating citizens to pledge for organ donation.
