Imphal, June 02 2022: All the handloom weavers and allied workers of the State have been requested to take their Photo Identity Cards (Pehchan cards) free of cost through the 'Weavers Pehchan Card Distribution Camps' opened by Weavers' Service Centre (WSC) Imphal.

Such distribution camps are opened at different localities covering all the districts of the State, informed a press release by the Deputy Director, Weavers' Service Centre.

Regarding the news which has been doing rounds that distribution of Pehchan cards by M/S Karvy Data Management Service Limited in different parts of the State by charging Rs 100 per card, WSC has declared that left over Pehchan cards with M/S Karvy Data Management Service Limited as invalid.

WSC also informed all concerned that distribution of Pehchan Cards by unauthorized agencies/vendors should be stopped with immediate effect.

It may be noted that M/S Karvy Data Management Service Limited which was assigned for conducting necessary enumeration and printing of Pehchan cards has been directed by the office of the DC Handlooms, New Delhi to handover all the left out cards to the nearest Weavers' Service Centres for necessary distribution since the contract was terminated, added the release.
