Teachers' Training Course commences

A seven-day "Thang-Ta & Manipuri Jagoi Refresher cum Teachers' Training Course 2026" officially began today at the Government Dance College campus in Palace Compound, Imphal.
The course is a collaborative initiative by the Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Society (KIMACS), SCERT, COHSEM, BOSEM, and the Ideal Teacher's Training Academy.
The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including KIMACS vice-president Bharmacharimayum Bilky Sharma, and advisors Irom Ibomcha and Maibam Surjaboro Meitei.
Dr Yenkhom Sanjitkumar, Head, Department of Thang-Ta, Manipur University of Culture, attended as an expert and delivered a speech on the topic "Prospective of Thang-Ta (And Academic overview)" .
Over 80 teachers, both current educators and new trainees from various parts of Manipur, are participating in the course.
At the event, KIMACS vice-president Thangjam Suraj Meitei stated that the primary objective of the refresher course is to ensure a uniform teaching methodology and to enhance the knowledge of existing teachers, while also providing substantial benefits to new trainees.
The training, aimed at standardizing the teaching syllabus of Thang-Ta and Manipuri Jagoi in schools, will run until February 7, 2026, at the KIMACS Head Office in Government Dance College campus.
