Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam has stated that the Government will not remain silent to the deadly attack carried out by Kuki militants which killed a truck driver on Imphal-Ukhrul road near TM Kasom village today.
The Home Minister asserted that the Government is waiting for the right time.
Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam paid a visit to the injured police personnel presently undergoing treatment at JNIMS Hospital.
He also visited the deceased victim (truck driver) at the JNIMS mortuary.
Responding to queries raised by media persons, the Home Minister strongly condemned today's deadly attack and stated that the Government will not remain silent.
He said that the Government is only waiting for the right time.
Saying that the area where the ambush took place today is given security cover by BSF troops, the Home Minister added that the Government will look into if there were any lapses.
The State Government has not yet taken any decision to hand over today's ambush to the NIA or any Central agency, he said.
Without naming Kuki, the Home Minister stated that the area where the deadly attack was carried out is dominated by a particular community.
Which group was responsible for the deadly attack cannot be said with certainty at the moment.
The perpetrators will be known once a detailed report is received, Govindas said.
Of all the Central forces deployed in the State, 88 companies were withdrawn for election duty in other States.
But 28 companies will be coming back soon, he said.
The Home Minister added that plans are afoot to carry out extensive search operations once these 28 companies of Central forces reach the State.
