AT ready to help in checking illegal migrants

Imphal, July 25 2025: Extending full support to the order issued by the State Government to check influx of illegal immigrants and identification of immigrants, the Arambai Tenggol has offered to help the Government to execute the order effectively, if necessary.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Arambai Tenggol Ghqs CMP commissioner Munindro Mangang said that indigenous people of Manipur are being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants.

As a result, Manipur has been witnessing drastic demographic, geopolitical and socio-economic changes, he said.

The Arambai Tenggol wholeheartedly supports the order issued by the State Government on July 23, 2025 which instructed DCs and SsP to check entry and exit of illegal immigrants, and collect biometrics of all immigrants, Munindro said.

The Arambai Tenggol with its 70,000 volunteers is ready to help the Government in identifying the illegal immigrants, if necessary, he said.

The issue of illegal immigration is not restricted to Manipur alone but it has affected many other North Eastern States.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that many of the illegal immigrants are no different from Jihadis.

With the Government of Assam determined to drive out the illegal immigrants, the Government of Nagaland has heightened vigilance along its border with Assam so as to prevent the illegal immigrants from crossing into Nagaland, Munindro Mangang said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a strong directive asking all State Governments to monitor migrants, detect and deport illegal immigrants, he recalled.

There is no objection to the proposed delimitation in 2026 but the delimitation should be done only after all illegal immigrants are identified and deported, he said.
