Blaming the Government of India, UNLF chairman RK Meghan has stated that it has failed to serve the interest of North East people.
Speaking to the media while being produced before a Special Court of the NIA, the rebel leader said that there is the need to know why violence is happening all over the world.
On the exodus of numerous people of North East origin from the cities of India, Meghen said that this is something which was bound to happen.
The numerous cases of harassment, molestation, rape and killing of North East people in mainland India reflect the general attitude towards the North East region, he said and added that now it is time for the NE people to think seriously for the future generation.

Asserting that he is against all forms of violence, Meghen said that targeting people from the North East as a fall out of the Assam violence amounts to racial profiling.
Dismissing the claim of some political parties that the North East has a special place in their mind, Meghen said the Government of India has not done anything concrete for the welfare of this region.
He further said that the North Eastern States of India should be identified as western South East Asia.
Meghan that the slogan Unity in Diversity is a misnomer as India has failed to embrace diversity, especially the people of the North East region.
Taking a dig at the surrender ceremonies in Manipur, the rebel leader said that the Government of Manipur is staging fake surrender dramas to promote their profile.
Retired cadres of armed groups are pulled up by the Government to Manipur and made to stage to surrender dramas, he alleged further.
The rebel leader also congratulated MC Mary Kom, Kothajit, Sonya, Bombayla and Devendrothe Olympians from Manipur, who participated in London Olympic 2012 .
He picked out MC Mary Kom for bagging the Bronze medal in the Olympic.
Today 14 members of the UNLF including Meghan were produced at NIA special Court Assam.
Several charges under section 120 (B) of IPC 121, 121(A), 122 and under section 16, 17, 18, 18(A), 18(B) and 20 UA(P) Act 1967 as amended in 2008 were framed against 25 members of the banned outfit.
