Bishnupur, May 23 2025:
A group of farmers working in their farmland near Thinungei Ching in Bishnupur district were prevented from doing so by a team of central security forces early Friday morning, citing absence of official
clearance from the district administration.
The incident took place around 6 am when local farmers went with tractors and ploughing equipment to till their fields.
However, security personnel deployed in
the area stopped them, stating that authorisation from the DC was still pending.

According to one of the farmers, around 80 'pari' of farmland located in Ningthoukhong High Canal area are divided into four zones.
Of these, around 40 pari belonging to the Kabui and Kom communities face no restrictions.
In contrast, land cultivated by the Meetei community remains inaccessible due to ongoing security measures.
The farmer added that in March, a meeting was convened where a resolution was passed to resume farming activities with the resolution formally intimated to the local MLA, the DC and the SP .
Moreover, discussions were held with both state and central security forces to identify the farmlands deemed safe for cultivation.
Despite the recent rainfall creating favourable conditions, farmers attempting to access the permitted areas were turned back by the forces, leading to widespread frustration.
Many have called upon the authorities to intervene and allow them to resume agricultural activities in time.
In response to the incident, the Bishnupur SP met with the affected farmers and assured them that the necessary orders would be issued by May 26.The police officer explained that delays were due to strict security protocols but confirmed that most arrangements have been completed.
He further assured the farmers that even if the newly appointed DC has not assumed office by that date, the ADC will issue the required authorisation.
