Imphal, June 22 2024:
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has imposed an embargo on all goods and commodities bound for Kuki-Zo areas.
No goods or commodities shall be permitted to be supplied to the Kuki-Zo areas from Senapati or any other sources within 'our jurisdiction', the SDSA asserted in a statement.
It said that this embargo is a necessary measure to respond to the unwarranted aggression and to protect the interests of 'our community' .
"Despite our hospitality, patience, understanding and neutrality in the ongoing conflict, the Kuki miscreants had the audacity to set a truck on fire within our land and jurisdiction on the night of June 19 just below Tumuyon Khullen", it said.

Saying that it strongly condemned this act of arson, the SDSA decried that it was a direct challenge to their authority and also a grave threat to the safety and well-being of all communities.
It also urged the authorities concerned to book and punish the culprits as per law at the earliest.
The SDSA said that it has been appealing to all concerned parties to refrain from unnecessarily hampering vehicular movement along NH-2 and to maintain the highway as a safe zone, free from any form of harassment but the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has completely ignored the appeals.
The SDSA asserted that it shall not be held responsible or accountable for any and all eventualities that befall the Kuki-Zo community living within Senapati.
The responsibility for any adverse outcome rests solely with the CoTU and their subordinates, it said.
The SDSA has also prohibited all individuals, businesses or firms within Senapati from engaging in any commercial transaction, business dealing or trade with the Kuki-Zo community.
This prohibition extends to all forms of economic interactions and transactions, the student body asserted.
"Any person or entity found violating this order shall bear the full consequences of their actions.
We will not be held responsible for any harm, loss or misfortune that befalls those who disregard this directive.
The responsibility for their safety and the repercussions of their actions will rest entirely on them", it added.
