Meet endorses ILPS demand at Jiribam

A public meeting held today at Town Hall here resolved to urge the Government once again to effect extension and adoption of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873 by November 18 this year so that Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) can be enforced all over the State.
The meeting organised by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, Kangleipak further resolved to highlight the woes of Jiribam public to the Government.
The meeting held on the theme 'extension and adoption' was attended by co-convenors of the joint committee Sapamcha Jadumani, Kh Ratan, Th Ratan, Jiribam District Demand Committee convenor M Maipaksana and co-chairman of the Pari-Puri Athouba Ningshing Lup Arunkumar Mangang as presidium members.

The meeting was also attended by a large number of Meira Paibis, members of civil organisations and students.
Addressing the meeting, Sapamcha Jadumani observed that continuous influx of migrants over the years has become a serious threat to the identity of the indigenous people.
Given such an alarming situation, any movement aimed at checking influx should be supported by all the people of Manipur including the people of Jiribam.
The meeting concluded with an interaction session during which the joint committee leaders clarified that there is nothing communal regarding the demand for enforcement of ILPS in Manipur.
