3 months set for completing Civil Secretariat

Imphal, August 21 2024: The State Cabinet has decided to complete the construction of the Mantripukhri Civil Secretariat work and inaugurate it within 3 months.

The Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister today decided to speed up the construction with specific direction to the Public Works Department to expedite the works within 3 months.

The Cabinet also decided to allow one time relaxation of the rules and regulations for PWD's Superintending Engineer and Additional Chief Engineer and conversion of the post of Chief Engineer (Building) to Additional Chief Engineer-IV.

The Cabinet took a decision to fill 3 posts of Section Officer Grade-I (Civil) to accommodate 3 candidates belonging to PwD (Persons with Disability) category under horizontal reservation.

The Cabinet held discussion on issues concerning the Autonomous District Councils.

While it mulled creation of administrative committees like with the Panchayats, it couldn't take any decision.

The Cabinet decided to further discuss the issues with the Hill Areas Committee.

The Cabinet discussed a proposal submitted by the State Election Commission for conducting elections to 27 urban local bodies excluding Ward No 5 & 19 of Imphal Municipal Corporation.

The meeting however couldn't decide an exact or tentative date for the elections.

On Lokayukta, the Cabinet decided to increase the retirement age of the Chairperson and Members from 70 years to 71 years.

The Cabinet gave post facto approval to creation of 105 posts (61 teaching staff and 44 non-teaching staff) and appointment of 95 staff (52 teaching and 43 non-teaching staff) for some colleges.
