Imphal, March 21: The identities of all those involved in the post poll violence in Wangoo and Sandangkhong under Kumbi Assembly Constituency just after the results were declared have been identified and police are on the look out to nab them.

In connection with the violence which included setting fire and ransacking of houses, police have registered two cases.

This was disclosed by Chief Minister O Ibobi who is also in charge of the Home portfolio during question hour in the State Assembly today in response to a question raised by MLA N Mangi.

Chief Minister Ibobi confirmed that three houses were burnt down in the incident while 25/26 other houses were partially burnt.

Stating that all the accused in the incident have been identified, he assured that all the culprits would be awarded befitting punishment according to law.

Further, the Deputy Commissioner concerned has been intimated to submit a detailed report of the properties destroyed so that the State Government can extend all possible relief to the victims at the earliest, added the Chief Minister.

He further appealed to all UG groups not to indulge in 'power politics'.

To another query raised by MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing, Ibobi clarified that there was no case of any casualty on the part of civilians in the shoot-out between troops of Assam Rifles and UG cadres on March 3 at Aishi village under Kamjong sub-division.

In the said gun fight with AR troops posted at Chassad and UG cadres, one UG cadre was slain and a weapon recovered from him, Ibobi mentioned.

Asserting that 11 houses were burnt by UG cadres in the gun fight because of which properties worth Rs 12 lakhs (approximately) were destroyed, the Chief Minister informed that the Government has sought detailed report on the incident.

Once the report is submitted, the State Government will provide all possible help to rehabilitate the affected villagers, he assured.

Observing that the development work of Pallel-Chandel road taken up under ACA scheme was not satisfactory, Chief Minister O Ibobi who also holds the Works portfolio lamented that only 30 percent of the work has been completed as against Rs 23.92 crores released so far.

In response to a question of MLA Morung Makunga, Ibobi informed that adequate fund has been earmarked to complete the road development work within the next fiscal year.

He attributed tardy work progress to wrangling among 'patriots'.

Responding to a query of E Kunjakishore, FCS Minister Th Debendra claimed that rice, sugar, kerosene and wheat are being distributed regularly every month to ration card holders through Fair Price Shop agents.

To save Loktak lake, the State Assembly has passed the Loktak Protection Bill 2006 into Act.

The rules to be incorporated under the Act are being formulated.

The Act would be enforced shortly after issuing the relevant notification, said Forest Minister Th Debendra replying to a question raised by I Ibohalbi.

The Loktak Lake is currently under the Department of Forest.
