Imphal, April 19 2025: The Medical Society of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised MESOCON 2025, an annual conference of the society today.

The event, organised under the theme "More than you can imagine: An anthology of rare experiences" at Jubilee Hall, RIMS Imphal, brought together faculty, postgraduate students, and medical professionals for a day of academic exchange, recognition, and celebration of excellence in medical research and practice.

Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS Imphal formally inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.

Medical Superintendent Professor N Sanjib Singh, Dean (Academics) Professor Th Meera, Medical Society (RIMS) chairman Professor Th Sudhiranjan, secretary Dr L Jaleshwar Singh and Prof Gayatri Pukhrambam, chairperson, Reception Commi- ttee attended the event.

In his address, Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted that RIMS Im-phal has been recognised as the 13th Centre of Excellence for rare diseases and the first in the North East.

In case a rare disease is detected at RIMS, an eligible patient could receive up to Rs 50 lakh for treatment, he said.

He stressed on the importance of ethical and high-quality research, and urged the faculty to avoid outsourcing work.

The Director also emphasised that there are efforts to meet National standards, establish molecular labs, and implement a hub-and-spoke model for regional care.

As a part of the conference, the RIMS Director released a souvenir and Journal of Medical Society (JMS) .

Acknowledging outstanding academic contributions of young researchers and clinicians, prizes for best postgraduate awards and best poster presentations were distributed.

The MESOCON 2025 concluded with sessions showcasing a diverse range of scientific papers, posters, and clinical research studies from various departments of RIMS, reflecting the institute's academic vitality and research excellence.
