Imphal, August 18 2024:
The Koireng-led UNLF has asserted that the way the rock concert held on the Patriots' Day (August 13) at Khuman Lampak with AMFA and MAMI TV as the main organisers as an occasion of merry-making and revelry ought to be condemned.
The outfit has also acknowledged the anger and disapproval expressed by the people against the rowdy crowd of youngsters as well as the organisers of the concert.
In the aftermath of the concert, the organisers and rock bands which performed at the concert were blindfolded and questioned for four days.
Subsequently, the AMFA president said that they were forced to organise the rock concert and he even took the name of a cadre of Koireng-led UNLF.

There is nothing surprising in the AMFA president's statement for it is only natural for a man subjected to physical and mental harassment for four days to find an excuse in order to escape the ordeal, the outfit said in a press release issued by its publicity secretary M Shak-Hen.
Since the past, the UNLF and different organisations have been organising several events related to the revolutionary movement either together or separately and it is not restricted to AMFA, the outfit said.
Even if the AMFA president opposed the proposal made by the cadre he named, he could have contacted other members/leaders of the Koireng-led UNLF, it said.
As AMFA president is known to the cadre, he was asked to organise the Patriots' Day event.
The cadre thought that patriotic songs sung to the tune of rock music could awaken a strong sense of Nationalism among the youngsters.
Unfortunately, either the cadre could not fully convey his thoughts to the organisers or there was communication gap and the singers/event managers could not comprehend the sentiment associated with the Patriots' Day or they could not control the crowd.
As a result, the event looked quite awkward and insulting, it said.
It then appealed to all the people to examine if some elements have been working to undermine and humiliate the Koireng-led UNLF/MPA by taking advantage of the goof-up in organising the August 13 event and the AMFA president's statement.
For those high ranking officials of the Government who have been scheming to take over AMFA since some two/three years back, the recent incident has proved to be a fortunate turn of events, it continued.
The outfit is proud of the conscientious people who have been keeping a close watch on the dynamics of the society.
The outfit firmly believes that the capitalist class, ruling elites and their supporters can never mislead the people, it further said.
