SF arrest seven KCP members from all over

Imphal, March 17 2012: At least seven cadres of different factions of banned outfit KCP were arrested in the past three days by Imphal East and Thoubal district Commandos from different areas, according to statements of SPs of Imphal East and Thoubal districts.

According to the statements, Imphal East CDOs arrested one KCP (Maoist) cadre identified as Shanoujam Sanatomba alias Sarat alias Yaima (21) son of (L) Sh Amuthoi alias Chaoba of Mayang Imphal Kokchai Mamang Leikai from Kontha Ahallup on March 15 morning.

One mobile handset along with one Airtel SIM card was recovered from his possession.

On verification, he disclosed that he joined the outfit in February last year through one Chinglen and presently working under the command of Kangleipal, the SS Chairman of the outfit who is now in Nepal.

He also disclosed that he was involved in extortion activities from general public, government officials and businessmen and had recruited many youths from different places of Manipur for the outfit.

On the same day at around 11.30 am, a team of Imphal East CDO arrested one KCP cadre who was identified as Md Tajuddin (26) son of Md Najiruddin of Keirao Makting Sabal Leikai from Kongba Keithel near WYLCO building.

On verification, he admitted that he joined KCP n 2008 through one Md Akbar and was involved extortion activities, transportation of arms and ammunitions and providing shelters to party cadres, the release added.

Meanwhile, Thoubal district Commandos on Friday afternoon arrested four cadres of KCP Wanglen Group and rescued a minor from their hands from Wangjing area.

The arrested cadres were identified as Chongtham Nandabira alias Kengba alias Nanda (18) son of late Ch Ingocha of Moreh Ward No 7, Khuraijam Abungcha alias Prem alias Rakesh (18) son of Kh Shamu of Moreh Ward No 7, Angom Ajay (16) son of A Ibopishak of Moreh Ward No 7 and Meishnam Abungcha alias Amurei (18) son of late M Lukhoi of Moreh Ward No 9 .

They admitted that they are active cadres of the outfit and presently working in the Recruiting Cell, according to a press release of SP, Thoubal district.

With the arrest of the cadres, the CDO rescued a minor called Soibam Ronald (13) son of S Godadhor of Wangjing Awang Leikai.

He was about to be transported to Myanmar and forced to join the outfit.

He was handed over to family members through the Child Welfare Committee, Thoubal Unit, the release added.

It also informed all the parents and guardians that recruitment of children is actively going on by UG cadres operating across the border by promise of money, mobile phones and better lifestyle and advised to take care of their children.

In another incident, a team of Thoubal CDO apprehended one cadre of KCP Khaba Group from Lilong Haoreibi Hangamthabi on Thursday evening.

He was identified as Md Rizwan (20) son of late Md Habibur Rahaman of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai.

A demand later of the outfit was recovered from him, the release added.
