Road repair works to start today

Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has announced that road repair work in his Constituency will begin tomorrow, with plans to complete it before the next monsoon season.
The MLA inspected the road infrastructure in Thangmeiband today along with engineers and contractors of the Public Works Department.
Speaking to the media, Joykisan said that altogether 74 roads in Thangmeiband will undergo repair works under the Manipur Urban Road, Drainage and Asset Management (MURDAMIP) : Improvement within Imphal City with Rigid Pavement including Concrete Lined Drains initiative.
Saying that paver blocks will be laid on these roads, he added that the road infrastructure project is planned for completion before the next monsoon season.
Further stating that the roads in Thangmeiband deteriorated due to the execution of the Imphal Sewerage Project, he added that about 95 per cent of the sewerage project is completed in Thangmeiband.
Seeking cooperation from the public in the execution of the project, Joykisan appealed to the people to refrain from using drain sides as garbage pits or vehicle washing centres, as it adversely affects the roads.
He also appealed to one and all not to politicise the developmental project.
Joykisan, meanwhile, said that the public gallery being constructed at Thangmeiband Thingel Maru Lampak will be inaugurated in December, while Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen will be inaugurated on October 24.The inspection visit was also participated by Executive Engineer of PWD, Imphal West Division Laishram Max and Manager of Keystone Infra Private Limited Vijanand.
