New Delhi, September 16:
Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said that the Assam Rifles had already set in motion the process of evacuating the historic Kangla Fort here, a heritage site which has been under the security personnel for over a decade now.
People in Manipur, including the protestors, are demanding removal of the paramilitary forces from here.
Regarding the demand for relocation of the Assam Rifles personnel from the fort which is in the heart of the city, Patil has said while 1,600 of the 1,800 personnel had already been shifted out, the remaining 200 would also be relocated by December end.
