Biren, Sharda leave for Delhi

Imphal, January 16 2026:
Ex-Chief Minister N Biren and BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda left Imphal for Delhi in an Indigo flight at around 12.30 pm today.
Even though media persons asked a number of questions regarding his visit to Delhi at Imphal Airport, N Biren did not give any reply.
Nonetheless, he did reply to a query regarding the dismantling of border fence by unidentified miscreants near Indo-Myanmar border pillar number 67 in Chandel district.
The ex-Chief Minister said that the Centre will pay special attention to the matter and take up strong actions.
A Sharda too did not give any reply to queries raised by media persons at the airport.
However, sources said that N Biren left for Delhi in response to a call from BJP Central leaders.
According to the sources, the ex-Chief Minister was called by BJP Central leaders to Delhi in connection with the Central Government's hectic efforts to reinstate a popular Government in Manipur.
A Sharda left for New Delhi to take part in filing nomination papers of Nitin Nabin for the post of BJP National president on January 19, said the sources.
It is being speculated that Nitin Nabin may be announced as the new National president of BJP on January 20, 2026.Another source said that BJP Central leaders may also talk with the BJP Manipur Pradesh president on the formation of a popular Government in Manipur.
Notably, MLA Thongam Biswajit (Thongju AC) departed for New Delhi on January 15 afternoon in response to a call from BJP Central leaders.
