Imphal, October 15 2026:
79 BSF personnel and five civilian drivers were admitted to RIMS Hospital today following suspected food poisoning.
To ascertain the cause of the illness, Food Safety officials have collected samples of the food consumed by them.
Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam visited the affected BSF personnel and civilian drivers at the hospital and enquired about their conditions.
According to well-placed sources, the BSF personnel belong to D/58.They arrived at the complex of a construction company, AMR India Limited, at Lamsang Taothong Apheiba yesterday evening.

They had travelled from Dimapur, Nagaland, and spent some time at Luwangsangbam before reporting at the company complex.
It is reported that they had milk tea, roti and sabji for breakfast along with five civil drivers at around 8 am today.
Around 15 to 20 minutes after having breakfast, they developed symptoms including nausea, vomiting, stomach ache and loose motions, said the sources.
Some of the affected persons told The Sangai Express that they had prepared the breakfast themselves.
As they developed similar symptoms of food poisoning, they were taken to RIMS Hospital in two buses for treatment.
As a large number of patients were brought to the hospital and could not be accommodated in the OPD and Emergency Wards, RIMS officials arranged beds in the patient waiting area to treat them.
Meanwhile, a team of Health officials, led by the District Surveillance Officer and the Designated Food Safety Officer, visited the site of the incident and collected samples of the food.
The samples will be sent to a referral laboratory concerned to ascertain the cause of the suspected food poisoning.
The officials have also met with the affected BSF personnel.
Members of the Transporter and Driver Council, led by its president H Ranjit, also visited the affected civilian drivers and enquired about their condition.
