Ireng village lodges complaint against KNF

Imphal, January 15 2026:
Ireng Naga (Puiluang) Village Authority has lodged a written complaint before the Officer-in-Charge of Gamnom Sapermeina police station against the criminal act committed by armed cadres of Kuki National Front (KNF), a Suspension of Operation (SoO) group under UPF on January 11, 2026 around midnight.
The complaint filed on January 14 by the village authority alleged that at around 11.30 pm on January 11, armed KNF/UPF cadres in combat uniform illegally entered Ireng Naga village and vandalized pubic property, destroyed community waiting shed, defaced village memorial stones by painting with the words "Kukiland" and "Stay Away" .
This act of KNF amounted to criminal trespass, mischief and deliberate ethnic intimidation, it said.
The complaint further mentioned that as the villagers of Ireng Naga village held a peaceful road blockade on January 12 seeking protection, one Tiger Kipgen alias Thangboi alias Haogenthang Kipgen who claimed to be a commander of the KNF contacted the village Chairman through WhatsApp at around 12.05 pm and issued explicit threats of open gunfire and burning d6wn the entire village.
Later, on the same day at around 2 pm, some 30-40 heavily armed cadres were sighted advancing towards Ireng village causing panic and fear of imminent attack, the complaint said and requested the OC to register an FIR under relevant sections of BNS and UAPA .
It also urged for urgent adequate security deployment to protect civilians and legal action against all those involved in the criminal acts.
It warned that delay in taking appropriate actions may result in loss of life and public order.
Based on the complaint lodged by Ireng Naga (Puiluang) Village Authority, Gamnom Sapermeina police station has registered an FIR under different sections of BNS and Arms Act.
A copy of the FIR has also been sent to the Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi.
