Imphal, October 14 2025:
The Churachandpur Meitei United Committee (CMUC), Meitei Council Moreh (MCM) and Committee on Protection of Meetei Victims (CoPMEV), Moreh have urged the Government to take up concrete measures urgently for resettlement of people displaced from Churachandpur and Moreh at their original places.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, CMUC co-convenor Naba Ningthoujam said there are reports of the Government's plan to resettle displaced people from peripheral and foothill areas in three phases by December this year, and those from Churachandpur, Moreh and Kangpokpi by March next year.
"We welcome these steps.

At the same time, we would like to urge the Government to resettle us too at the earliest or accommodate us in the prefabricated houses", Naba said.
He urged the Government to let them move into prefabricated houses within the current month, if possible.
He said that the IDPs do not have any privacy in the relief camps.
Saying that most of the prefabricated houses had been constructed before the President's Rule was imposed, Naba asked the Govt not to force them to wait till March but allow them to move into the prefabricated houses within October.
It is a good step that financial assistance to IDPs would be given through direct benefit transfer (DBT) from November.
At present, each IDP is given Rs 100 per day.
It is rather unfortunate that some people of the places where the IDPs are staying have raised objections against the Govt initiative to give financial assistance through DBT, Naba said.
He said that the IDPs have been surviving with bare minimum requirements and a paltry financial assistance for the last two years and a half.
Some people from the localities of the relief camps have been saying that the IDPs will not be allowed to use local ponds/water and crematoriums if the financial assistance is transferred through DBT, he said before appealing to all concerned to withdraw the restrictions.
He said that the CMUC was formed by Meitei Society Churachandpur, Meitei Youth Organisation Churachandpur, Churachandpur Meitei Ethnic Clash Victims Committee, Nupi Samaj Churachandpur and Ima Leimarel Churachandpur.
CoPMEV Moreh convenor Thangjam Budha Meitei said that the Government announced an interim aid of Rs one lakh for each displaced family but only Rs 25,000 has been released so far.
There are many displaced families who have not yet received this sum of Rs 25,000.He then urged the Government to release the second instalment before the Ningol Chakkouba festival if the Government is planning to release any sum from the promised interim aid.
