Imphal, November 13 2025:
In a significant step to provide relief to flyers from Manipur, Air India Express is set to operate a daily Imphal-Guwahati-Delhi flight service from December 1, 2025 onwards.
Making the announcement, the official Facebook page of Imphal International Airport informed that the Imphal-Guwahati-Delhi flight will depart from Imphal at 1725 hours (5.25 pm) .
Ticket bookings for the flight service are now open.
The new daily connection will further strengthen Imphal's air link with the rest of the country and provide passengers with greater convenience and flexibility, said the Facebook post.

It is worth noting that following strong uproar over soaring airfares and a communication between Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Air India Express had previously decided to cap fares for the Imphal-Guwahati sector at Rs 6000 and operate two additional daily flights to Guwahati and Kolkata soon.
On another note, some frequent flyers from the State spoke to The Sangai Express over flight connectivity and airfare issues which has attracted significant attention across both print and digital media and has become a subject of daily discussion among citizens.
They commended the recent initiative by Alliance Air to operate an additional flight on November 15, 2025 .
Even as the paper looked into this specific flight service, it was not clear on which sector it would operate.
Saying that the people of Manipur appreciate this gesture, they stated that Alliance Air should consider continuing this enhanced flight connectivity not as a one-time measure but through additional regular operations on the Imphal-Guwahati sector.
Elaborating on this, one flyer said two flights per day for at least three days a week, or ideally maintaining an enhanced frequency throughout the week, with reasonable and stable airfares, would substantially benefit passengers.
This would also help stabilise fare levels and strengthen connectivity on this highly demanded route, chimed in another frequent flyer.
During the conversation, they also shared the flight connectivity challenges faced by the people of the State due to the reduction in services on the Imphal-Guwahati sector from five daily flights to just two during the current winter schedule.
This reduction, in turn, has led to a sharp escalation in airfares causing considerable hardship to the travelling public, particularly when air travel remains the only route to go outside the State, they said.
Hoping Alliance Air will consider enhanced flight connectivity on the Imphal-Guwahati sector, they said this step would not only ease the ongoing travel difficulties but also be recognised as a meaningful and compassionate gesture by Alliance Air towards the people and the State of Manipur.
