If you are a member of a particular community residing in the Manipur valley and going by air is the only option, then this is for you.
Are you going to Dimapur for an urgent work? .
If yes, then you must have at least Rs 40,000--ready to be spent in a jiffy! .
A major portion of this Rs 40,000 will be spent on flight fares, and the remaining on fooding and lodging.
Rs 15,000-Rs 20,000 is for flight fare from Imphal to Dimapur via Kolkata (the price depends on when you book) .
For return, you will spend a little less- around Rs 3,000 for flight from Dimapur to Guwahati and another Rs 8,000-Rs 10,000 for flight from Guwahati to Imphal.

There are rare cheaper flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but these aren't considered because Emergencies and Urgent work can't wait.
Note, the expenditures given above are lump sum and are based on best flight fares searched by this paper.
For example, the airfare for Imphal to Dimapur via Kolkata on November 13 is Rs 20,145 (when checked at around 6.30 pm of November 12) .
Now, why is this paper bringing this to the attention of the people? .
Remember, there is no free movement on the Highways and in some parts of the State.
The Highways are still shut to the people of the valley.
People are unable to travel on the Highways for fear of their lives and safety.
If the Highways were opened and there was free movement, then it would have taken only around Rs 1,000 to reach Dimapur, not Rs 20,000 .
While unavailability of direct flights daily is the prime reason for driving the the price up, it nonetheless has exposed a gap in the connectivity (air and land) in the region that needs to be addressed by the Government, particularly the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Soaring prices of flight tickets on the Imphal-Guwahati sector had made headlines of this paper recently.
