Huge cache of WY tablets, heroin seized

Imphal, August 12 2022: A team of Kakching police arrested four drug peddlers along with 10 kilograms of WY tablets worth around Rs 49 lakh in the local market in separate incidents along Imphal-Moreh road while NAB personnel seized 550 grams of heroin from Hatta area, today.

All the drug peddlers were arrested today.

In the first incident, a team of Kakching police detained one unregistered four - wheeler vehicle with two persons on board at its Pallel check post at Laimanai Ching for verification.

They reportedly came from Tengnoupal side.

On checking, 9.824 kilograms of WY tablets, Rs 1.25 lakh in cash were found concealed inside the vehicle.

The driver and the occupant of the vehicle have been identified as Seikholun Vaiphei (34) s/o Thangpao Vaiphei of Zion Veng, Moreh Part-IV and Th Khaljakham Baite (30), s/o Paonam Baite of Guite Veng, Moreh Ward no 9.The police team arrested the duo and seized the WY tablets in the presence of witnesses by observing formalities.

They have been handed over to Kakching police station.

Sources informed that another team of Kakching commandos and Pallel police arrested two more drug peddlers along with two packets of WY tablets weighing 835 grams from the same check post at Laimanai Ching hours later.

The WY tablets were seized from two persons coming from Moreh side on a moped, as per the sources and they have been identified as Tongminthang Haokip (24), s/o Paomang Haokip of Khongkhang Village and Letkhosei Khongsai (19), s/o Holkholun Khongsai of New Sangjang Village.

They also have been handed over to Kakching police station along with the seized items.

Meanwhile, a team of NAB Manipur personnel arrested a 24 year old youth along with 44 soap cases containing 550 grams of heroin powder from Hatta Golapati Maning Leikai today.

As per estimate given by the police earlier, the value of the heroin might be worth around Rs 11 lakh in the local market.

The person arrested along with the heroin has been identified as Mohammad Hanif Ahamed, s/o Harich Ali of Moreh Ward no 5 Muslim Nagar Labuk Leikai presently staying at Hatta Golapatti Maning Leikai.

NAB Manipur registered a case against the arrested person under ND&PS Act for further investigation, said sources.

A combined team of Thoubal police and commandos also arrested another 63 year old man along with 934 gram of heroin (including the weight of the polythene) from Moijing Wangmataba Chingya Leikai, yesterday.

The arrested person has been identified as Mojingmayum Jaman of Moijing Wangmataba Chingya Leikai.
