Imphal, September 11 2019: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has lauded the positive changes, development, actions as well as the decisions taken in Parliament within the first 100 days of the 2nd term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It may be mentioned that Narendra Modi assumed office for the second term on May 30 this year after 303 BJP MPs were elected, scoring a historic landslide win in the election.

Speaking to media persons at BJP office at Canchipur today, N Biren said that he, on behalf of the State Government and the State unit BJP, would like to congratulate PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for scrapping Article 370 and 35 A from Jammu and Kashmir thus bringing it into mainstream India.

He explained that when the British left India, they left behind a volatile and confusing mess and added that when BJP leader Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Atal Bihari Vajpayee tried to go to Jammu and Kashmir, they were told that they would be denied entry if they did not have necessary permission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah finally scrapped Article 307 and 35 A from Jammu and Kashmir in a historic move, Biren explained.

He continued that PM Modi has launched a plan to make India an economically powerful Nation by 2024 by facilitating trade/exchange worth 5 trillion dollars.

Two Cabinet Committees have been formed to combat the crucial sector and provide employment to the unemployed youth, he said.

Informing that a high power committee was formed within 100 days of the 2nd term to bring reforms to the agriculture sector, the Chief Minister lauded the Central Government for the merger of 10 public sector banks for expansion, abolition of Triple Talaq and amendment of POCSO Act etc.

The passing of the Code on Waste Bill 2019 will provide around Rs 50 crore worth of benefits to the workers in the unorganised sector, the CM explained adding that missions have been launched to increase the living standards of the people like the Jal Jeevan Mission and the mission to provide electricity and cooking gas to all by 2022 .

Biren continued that Ayushman Bharat has been implemented in 16,085 hospitals and more than 41 lakh beneficiaries have been enrolled in the health and wellness centres under the said programme.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has been able to reach 8 crore households within the first 100 days, he claimed.

Under the National Urban Livelihood Mission, more than 11,750 youths were given training and around 8000 have been given jobs.

In a bid to double the income of the farmers, Rs 8,955 crore were sent directly to the accounts of 3.44 crore farmers under the PM Kishan scheme.

Under the PM Kishan Maan Dhan Yojana, farmers above the age of 60 are given monthly pension of Rs 3000 .

Jal Shakti Ministry was also launched on July 1 .

The CM also lauded the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act 2019 and the National Investigation Agency NIA Amendment Act 2019 .

On cyber crime, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that any cases involving National security as well as which may affect the society can now be reported directly to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal for swift legal actions.

He continued that with the bid to improve road safety, the Centre passed the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2019 .

The GST rate for electricity has been reduced to 5 percent from the previous 12 percent.

Rs 609 crore has been properly utilised for 88 Smart City projects.

The recently inaugurated Statue of Unity was included in the Times World Greatest Place 2019 annual list, Biren added.

National Defense Scholarship fund will be created to provide scholarship to the children of State police officials who lost their lives in terrorist attacks or gave their live in the interest of the Nation.

Based on the instruction from the Centre to all the States for constructing memorials for the police martyrs, plans are underway to create one in Manipur as well, Biren added.

The CM further lauded other steps taken up by the Centre like the passing of the National Medical Council Act 2019 and explained that with the recent approval of 75 new medical colleges, the total MBBS seat in the country will increase by 15,700 .

India received praises from America and Russia for the Chandrayan 2 mission, the CM said and lauded the Centre for other initiatives like the launching of FIT India movement, creation of Chief of Defense Staff and improvement of India foreign policy.

Biren said that the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah that the North East is not a region for political agenda but for development agenda, is true, and added that the political leaders should acknowledge the development witnessed by the region since 2014 .

On the other hand, Biren claimed that CAB will not supersede the other Acts which are present in the North Eat for the protection of its people.

The Union Home Minister had also assured that nothing will change in the North East and as such, there is nothing to fear, Biren added.
