Pambei-led UNLF celebrates raising day

The Pambei-led UNLF celebrated the 38th raising day of its armed wing Manipur People's Army (MPA) at various places inside Manipur and beyond today.
According to a press release issued by the outfit's Department of Publicity and Education Director Charairongba Thokchom, the raising day celebrations were held at MPA GHqs' 1st brigade, 2nd brigade, 3rd brigade, 291 battalion, 292 battalion, 293 battalion, 241 battalion, 242 battalion, Pakhangba battalion, Thang-jing battalion, Marjing battalion, Koubru battalion, Nongpok Ningthou battalion, Zulu battalion and party's central headquarters, and different departments.
The raising day celebration held at the 1st brigade headquarters was graced by the outfit's acting Chairman M Nongyai, General Secretary Ch Thanil, Secretary Finance I Tonsana, Secretary Health & Family Welfare N Loya, Secretary Organisation S Nongdol as chief guest and guests of honour.
Chief of Army Staff Kh Khomba attended the function as president.
The raising day celebration was attended by party cadres, staff officers, staff assistants, local cadres, MPA Ghqs authorities, senior officers, officers, NCOs and privates.
In addition, a large number of civil society leaders, public leaders and common people attended the function, it said.
The party's Department of External Affairs too celebrated the raising day in a foreign country.
Human Resource Development and Publicity & Education Secretary S Tamphajao and Secretary Project S Pankhei graced the raising day celebration held at Chqs as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
MPA fighters, party cadres, local cadres and local people attended the raising day celebration at the Chqs.
At 1st brigade headquarters, the gathering paid homage to all the martyrs who had laid down their lives in the course of Manipur's liberation movement by observing silence for two minutes.
The Chief of Army Staff then unfurled the party's flag and it was followed by a military parade, and presentation of the song "Eikhoi Lanmeeni....." .
Led by the acting Chairman, the gathering also paid floral tributes to all the revolutionary fighters and cadres who had laid down their lives in the course of Manipur's liberation movement.
Speaking on the occasion, acting Chairman M Nongyai recalled how the party was set up and struggled to survive.
He asserted that reclaiming the lost sovereignty of Manipur is the only solution to the Manipur-India conflict.
