State's trade potential tabled at SASEC summit at Nepal

The State's transport infrastructure and trade potential were tabled at the South Asia Socio Economic Cooperation (SASEC) working committee submit held at Kathmandu, Nepal on November 4 .
SASEC is a regional economic forum of Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Transport infrastructure and trade and commercial activities are being developed/promoted in SASEC countries with financial investment from Asian Development Bank (ADB) .
Even though India is a key member of SASEC, only West Bengal and Manipur are entitled to economic cooperation and financial assistance obtained through SASEC.
Additional Chief Secretary O Nabakishore and PWD Chief Engineer M Lokendro attended the Kathmandu summit.

The summit deliberated on economic cooperation and development of transport infrastructure across SASEC member countries.
Already there are plans for development/construction of Imphal-Moreh road, Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong road and Imphal ring road with financial assistance from ADB.
In addition to these roads, the State delegates sought financial investment from ADB for construction of Tamenglong-Tousem-Haflong road, Wangjing-Heirok-Khudengthabi road and Imphal-Mayang Imphal-Kakching Lamkhai road.
They also proposed extension of the Imphal-Jiribam railway line up to Myanmar and to develop the same railway line as a trans-Asian railway line.
