Imphal, October 07:
Development Co-ordinating Team (DCT) Federation, Tousem Sub-division, Tamenglong has announced its decision of imposing indefinite blockade along National Highway 53 and IT Road with effect from midnight tomorrow.
In a statement, Chairman of the Federation P Damsuak said the Federation has been constrained to go ahead with the decision of imposing the blockade as the State Government had repeatedly failed to consider its demands even after serving an ultimatum through MLA of 52-Tamei on September 29 last.
Essential services like water supply, electricity, medical and press/media would be exempted from the purview of the blockade, Damsuak said, adding that the Government should be held responsible for any eventuality of the blockade.
The demands of the Federation include extension of immediate relief to the villages affected by bamboo flowering and its subsequent rodent menace, to provide electricity to all the villages in Tousem sub-division, completion of the road work between Tamenglong to Makru bridge point of NH-53 via Azuram and compensation to the land owners along NH-53 villages which have been occupied by the paramilitary forces.
