Cong leaders in Jiri to receive Rahul

Ahead of Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi's scheduled visit to the State, a team of State Congress leaders including CLP leader Okram Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra, Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Gaikhangam, MPCC working president K Devabrata and MPYCC president Ningthoujam Popilal have reached Jiribam today.
CLP deputy leader K Ranjit, CLP chief whip Thokchom Lokeshwar, MLA Okram Surjakumar, MPCC former presidents M Okendro, Nameirakpam Loken and Lok Sabha MPs Dr Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam Arthur will leave Imphal for Jiribam in a helicopter at 8 am tomorrow, sources said.
Rahul Gandhi is set to land at Silchar airport in a chartered flight from Delhi at 9.15 am tomorrow.

From Silchar airport, the Congress leader will travel to Phularton, Assam by road and interact with the displaced persons from Jiribam and Pherzawl districts of Manipur who are currently taking shelter in the relief camps opened at Youth Care Centre, Phularton.
CWC member Gaikhangam would accompany when Rahul Gandhi visits the displaced Chin-Kuki at Phularton.
The Lok Sabha Opposition leader will then travel to Jiribam by road and interact with the large number of Meitei people presently taking refuge in the relief camps opened at Jiribam Higher Secondary School after their houses were burnt down by armed Kukis.
Rahul Gandhi would also talk with representatives of civil society organisations at Jiribam on the current situation of the district.
The Congress leader would travel back to Silchar by road at 11.45 am.
At 1 pm, Rahul Gandhi's chartered flight would depart Silchar for Imphal airport, and he is expected to reach Imphal at around 1.45 pm.
From Imphal airport, Rahul Gandhi will go to Churachandpur by road and interact with IDPs staying in relief camps as well as representatives of CSOs, said the sources.
On his way back to Imphal, Rahul Gandhi will visit the IDPs taking refuge in the relief camps opened at Phubala Higher Secondary School, Moirang.
At around 6 pm, the Opposition leader will call on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan and the two leaders would deliberate on the current situation of Manipur.
After his meeting with the Governor, Rahul Gandhi would brief the media at the Raj Bhavan gate at around 6.30 pm before leaving Imphal airport in the same chartered flight for Raebareli at around 7 pm .
