Imphal, December 06: The rebel Congress MLAs who have been camping at Delhi for more than a month in their campaign to remove O Ibobi from the post of Chief Ministership, called on the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today for an Ordinance so as to stall the delimitation exercise besides sustaining their oust-Ibobi move.

Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Th Debendra who is being projected by the dissident group as their leader and Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing called on Dr Manmohan Singh at about 12.30 pm and apprised the Prime Minister of the prevailing political imbroglio within the CLP.

The two senior Congress leaders reportedly told the Prime Minister that replacing O Ibobi with another leader as Chief Minister of Manipur will be able to end the protracted political impasse.

Acknowledging the stance of the dissident group and considering the reports culled from different quarters, Dr Manmohan Singh entrusted the party's North East in-charge Prithiviraj Chauhan to look into the crisis.

The Prime Minister also instructed Chauhan to go to Imphal at the earliest, conveyed the dissident camp.

Because of the ongoing parliamentary session and the forthcoming Gujarat elections, the AICC leaders including Chauhan are most of the time preoccupied thereby protracting the CLP crisis.

Yet, a marked change in the CLP can be expected within a short time, the rebel MLAs claimed.

After the meeting with Th Debendra and Rishang Keishing, the Prime Minister was again briefed on the existing political uncertainty by the dissident MLAs at about 3.15 pm.

After their meeting with the UPA Chairperson a few days back, the dissident MLAs are seeking another appointment with Sonia Gandhi tomorrow, they informed.

The dissident MLAs, during their meeting with the Prime Minister which lasted for 40 minutes, highlighted the compelling reasons behind their campaign to change CLP leadership, the existing fluid law and order situation and the abject administrative failure.

After listening to the rebel MLAs, Dr Manmohan reportedly hinted that some concrete steps will be taken up soon to resolve the impasse.

They also urged upon the Prime Minister to issue an Ordinance in order to suspend the delimitation process based on the faulty 2001 census.

The Prime Minister reportedly assured the MLAs to look into the matter, the rebel camp informed.
