Imphal, July 06 2025:
A consultative meeting of Nagas from foothill areas has resolved that no camps or settlements of Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement will be permitted within the ancestral areas of the Nagas.
The consultative meeting held on July 5, 2025 at Tarung, Imphal under the aegis of the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) was participated by Naga leaders, elders, intellectuals and representatives from various organisations, according to a press release issued by FNCC.
Following comprehensive deliberations, the consultative meeting also resolved that no construction of bunkers, makeshift shelters, wooden crosses, unauthorised gates or barricades shall be permitted within Naga inhabited areas.
Such unauthorised activities are viewed as provocative and a violation of the customary land rights and territorial integrity of the Naga people, FNCC said.
The third resolution said that no project in the guise of infrastructure development shall be undertaken in Naga areas if it infringes upon the rights, identity or survival of the Naga people.
Any such undertaking must be preceded by transparent consultation and informed consent of the concerned Naga communities must be obtained, the FNCC added.
