More arms, ammo surrendered as deadline expires

Imphal, March 06 2025: Ahead of the expiry of the extended deadline for surrendering looted and illegally held weapons and ammunition at 4 pm today, a sizable number of weapons, ammunition and other items were surrendered today.

Weapons, ammunition and many other items were surrendered before 6th IRB Commandant and in-charge Special Commando Unit Dr S Ibomcha.

The surrendered items included two 9 mm pistols with two magazines, two .32 pistols with magazines, two single barrel guns, two pompi guns (long range), one M 20 magazine, four Insas rifle magazines, four Insas LMG magazines, ten 7.62 LMG magazines, two 303 LMG magazines, one SLR magazine, 12 pairs of bullet proof iron plates, 13 numbers of 36 HE hand grenades with discharger plates, four detonators, 14 Baofeng handsets with batteries, five Baofeng handsets without battery, 139 live rounds of AK rifle ammunition, 73 live rounds of Insas Rifle, 58 live rounds of 7.62 , 34 live rounds of 9 mm, 44 live rounds of 303, 38 live rounds of .38, seven live rounds of .32, eight live rounds of M16, 16 live rounds of cartridge char barrel, 82 ballasted cartridge, 13 live rounds of sniper, two 80 grenades, one 40 mm bomb, one 51 mm bomb charger, two Chinese hand grenades and one telescope.

Nine tear smoke shells, three tear stun shells, one smoke grenade, nine smoke bomb shells, nine tube launching 1-A, one SLR with one magazine, two .303 LMG magazines, 22 live rounds of .303, ten live rounds of 7.62X 51 mm, four detonator fuses, one lethod bomb, 17 live rounds of 9 mm, four live rounds of .32, five live rounds of 5.52 mm and 10 wave belt aerial antennas.

At battalion headquarters, 2nd IRB, Naranseina, four SMCs, four SMC magazines, one .303 rifle, one .303 GF rifle, one .303 GF rifle magazine, one .32 pistol and one magazine, one pompi gun, two double barrel guns, two 9 mm magazines, one 5.56 mm Insas magazine, one 7.62 LMG magazine, two 7.62 SLR magazines, eight 36 HE hand grenades, three 36 hand grenade detonators, nine walkie talkie handsets, 23 live rounds of 7.62 mm, two smoke bombs, three stun grenades, 10 tear gas shells (normal), two tear gas shells (SR), three tear gas shells (LR), two tear gas shells (chilly) and 1.5 Kg of splinters were surrendered today.

These surrendered weapons, ammunition and explosives were later handed over to Moirang police station.

Further, two SBBL guns, 20 live rounds of .303 ammunition, ten live rounds of SLR ammunition, 18 rounds of 12 bore cartridges, one 36 hand grenade and one walkie talkie set were surrendered before 184 BSF and Kumbi police.

At Kakching, two 7.62 SLR 1A1 rifles, 10 single barrel guns, one double barrel gun, three country made pistols with three magazines, one 9 mm pistol with one empty magazine, two SMG carbine magazines, 43 live rounds of .303 ammunition, 26 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 12 live rounds of 7.62 SLR ammunition, seven live rounds of 9 mm ammunition, five live rounds of 5.56 Insas ammunition, 20 live rounds of Amogh carbine ammunition, 23 numbers of HE grenade, seven signal bombs, nine tear smoke shells, eight detonators, 10 Baofeng handsets, one binocular, one stun grenade and 16 live rounds of LMG were surrendered.
