Imphal, October 05 2022: A married man who molested a tuition going girl somewhere under the jurisdiction of Imphal police station has been arrested by Imphal West district police today.

Soon after the act of molestation which was captured in a CCTV camera installed on the inter-village road of the incident site, the same image/video clip was uploaded in social media and it went viral.

Imphal West district police promptly registered a suo moto case and a police team including the cyber crime unit was mobilized to arrest the accused person.

One pulled up for molesting student

On examining the uploaded CCTV footage, it was found that the incident happened early morning yesterday when the victim was walking along the inter-village road for her tuition.

The girl was all of a sudden sexually assaulted by the accused who came on a two-wheeler and sped away from the spot.

After examining the videos and CCTV footage minutely, the accused was identified to be one Haobam Ibomcha (43) of Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai.

The police team immediately rushed to the house of the accused and arrested him by observing necessary formalities from his home today.

On examination, the accused confessed to have committed the crime.

Although medical examination of the alleged accused was conducted today, he is likely to be produced before the Court concerned tomorrow.

Sources said that a few similar cases also reportedly took place in the nearby area a few days back and the accused is also one of the main suspects behind these cases.
