AR men hurt in Keishampat blast, protest staged

Two Assam Rifles personnel on patrolling duty suffered injuries when a bomb fitted to a scooter exploded at Keishampat Junction this morning while local womenfolk staged a sit-in-protest to denounce the blast at public place.
According to official report, the blast occurred at around 8.40 am close to the Keishampat Keisham Leikai community hall.
the bomb-fitted scooter is said to be grey in colour bearing registration number MN04/1242 .
two jawans of 28 Assam Rifles, who suffered bomb splinter wounds have been identified as rifleman Birender (32) from Himachal Pradesh and Havildar Rajender (40) hailing from Uttarakhand.
While Birender was injured on the legs Rajender suffered multiple splinter wounds.
Condition of the latter is stated to be serious.
Both have been admitted to RIMS Hospital.
Even though the scooter's number plate could not be traced from the blast site, the chassis number was found scratched when police teams carried out preliminary investigation.

An i10 car parked next to the scooter had its rear windshield completely shattered by the impact of the blast and the rear portion pockmarked with bomb splinter holes.
The car (MN06/L4213) belongs to one H Samijit (480 s/o H Nabakishore of Uyan in Thoubal district.
Samijit told some media persons that the blast occurred moments after he left the car to meet his elder brother who stays at Keishampat Keisham Leikai.
Frontal portion of a Tata Magic (MN01X/3932) parked in the vicinity was also partially damaged.
The Tata Magic owner namely Irom Ranjit (25) s/o I Ibomcha, also of Keishampat Keisham Leikai, said that he was at home when the bomb exploded.
The badly mangled scooter has been taken away by Imphal West district police for further investigation.
Keishampat junction is normally one of the busiest locations in the capital and is about 200 metres from the Raj Bhavan.
The CM's bungalow is situated about 150 metres from the Governor's residence.
The blast triggered an impromptu protest demonstration by local womenfolk who vehemently condemned the explosion at crowded place.
Taking grim note of exploding the bomb at Keishampat Junction, Mahila Kalyan Samiti secretary Th Jamuna highlighted that apart from a number of coaching centres located close to the blast site, the same area is a transit point for both students and general commuters.
opining that many educational institutions cancelling normal academic chores on account of Teachers' Day today might have prevented loss of lives, she fervently appealed to all concerned to desist from such acts in the future.
