High Power ministerial team appeals for normalcy in MU

Imphal, August 05 2018: The High Power Ministerial Team led by Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh today appealed to the teaching, non-teaching and student fraternity to reinstate normalcy in Manipur University.

The Deputy Chief Minister Y.Joykumar Singh was speaking at a press conference held at his office chamber at New Secretariat attended by Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Karam Shyam, Minister for Water Resource Development Letpao Haokip, Minister for Public Health Engineering Department, Losii Dikho.

Deputy Chief Minister said, as insisted by the State Government, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has taken up a positive step to end the ongoing impasse in the University.

He said that the incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof.A.P.Pandey has been put on leave for 30 days and have appointed the senior most Professor W.Vishwanath as Vice Chancellor (in-charge) of the University.

He further said that bringing normalcy in the Campus is important to facilitate the Fact Finding Committee to enquire and in discharging their duties in a free and fair manner.

The committee instituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) is headed by Retired Acting Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Justice Nandakumar.

Joykumar Singh said solving the problem of the Manipur University is the top most priority of the Government as it holds the future of more than 25,000 students.

Urging to resolve the issues, he appealed to all the fraternity of the University to allow the fact finding committee to proceed with their duties.

He assured that the Government is ready to take up further necessary steps, if the result of the committee is not satisfactory.

He also said that to discuss the new developments, the Ministerial team may invite the representatives of MUTA, MUSU and MUSA for talks soon.

He also appealed to ATSUM to reconsider their stand in the larger interest of the people of the State.

The Ministerial team appealed to MUTA, MUSU and MUSA to restore normalcy in the University so that the issues developed due to the impasse in the campus could be addressed.

For the sake of the students pursuing their post graduates across the 93 colleges of the State, Education Minister Th.Radheshyam said that their future is at stake as the 6th Semester's examination results is not declared till now, due to the issues in the varsity.

He appealed to all concern to facilitate impending declaration of examination results and administrative activities at the earliest in the interest of the students.
