Aid extended to flood victims

hawai Mirel and Indigenous People's Forum (IPF) distributed relief materials to flood victims from Chingmeirong, Dewlahland and Ragailong who have been taking taking refuge at different relief camps today.
These flood victims have been taking refuge at relief camps set up at the complex of Union Tangkhul Baptist Church, Imphal (UTBCI), Langol etc after Imphal River breached on May 29.After distributing the relief materials, leaders of IPF and Thawai Mirel talked about and reaffirmed the cultural ties and historical bond between the hill and valley people with Church leaders and leaders and youths of Tangkhul and Kabui.
Speaking to the media by the sideline, convenor of Thawai Mirel women wing Paonam Sanahanbi said that hill and valley people are inseparable and they cannot live without one another.
Saying that people in the valley have deep affection for the people living in the hill districts of Manipur, she appealed to the Kabui and Tangkhul people and all other communities who are not involved in the conflict in Manipur to assist in restoring normalcy in the State.
Reverend of UTBCI Phantiphang S Shimrei said that he was delighted to see volunteers of Thawai Mirel and IPF reaching out to the flood victims at the time of adversity.
He also extended gratitude to both Thawai Mirel and IPF for their generosity.
Leaders and volunteers of Tangkhul Shanaolong, Imphal and Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal were also present while distributing the relief materials.
