Four persons were found dead with bullet marks at a place in between Kangpokpi and Changoubung, some 2 kms North of Kangpokpi police station along NH-39 yesterday at around 8 pm.
The deceased are identified as Thangjam Bishwarjit (26) s/o Th Manihar of Ukhongshang Mayai Leikai, Moirangthem Dharmendra (30) s/o Tendon of Ukhongshang Mamang Leikai, Thangjam Hemanta (24) s/o Shanti of Ukhongshang Mayai Leikai and Naorem Chandrakanta (32) s/o late N Bhubon of Uripok Ahanthem Leikai.
According to information received from the respective families of the deceased, Th Bishwarjit was an innocent civilian and was a land tiller.
He was married the younger sister of Dharmendra and had a four year old son.
M Dharmendra was running a jewellery shop at Kangpokpi Bazar and was married to one Hekim of Kangpokpi ward no 1.They had a son and a daughter.
It is reported that Th Bishwarjit went to Kangpokpi along with his wife and son to his brother-in-law's (Dharmendra) place to sell away nine bags of rice.
On the other hand, Th Hemanta was an unmarried man.
He was working in the jewellery shop of Dharmendra staying in a rented room.
N Chandrakanta was dealing in ngari business, staying at Kangpokpi ward number 1 along with his wife Sobita of Konthoujam.
Sobita is currently four months pregnant, informed a family source.
Dharmendra and Chandrakanta were called out by some unidentified men from the rented room of Hemanta while Hemanta and Bishwarjit were called out from the rented room of Dharmendra at around 6 pm of Nov 2.The unidentified men were suspected to be Kuki UG cadres.
At around 10 pm yesterday, the Kangpokpi police were informed of the discovery of the four corpses by AR.
The corpses were brought to RIMS and conducted post morterm there.
According to police, the four deceased were believed to be killed somewhere with their hands tied behind and blind folded.
Even as numerous bullet marks were observed on the four bodies, not a single drop of blood could be seen in the place where the corpses were found.
No spent bullet was also recovered from the site.
